Running places a significant amount of physical stress on the body, particularly when running on hard surfaces such asphalt. Without stretching or a correct running form, it is easy to incur soft tissue injuries.
On top of stretching before your run, it is important to think about how you are supporting your body through movement post run.
A restorative yoga practice is a great solution for this, allowing the body to stretch and rebalance, helping prevent injury and aid in muscle recovery.
Selph Yoga director Amy G has designed a fifteen minute flow, aimed at helping your muscles recover and your body repair as quickly as possible. If you don’t have time straight after you finish your run, don’t stress, you can do this any time over the next five or so hours to reap the benefits.
We recommend this sequence for all runners, especially those recreational runners who are doing the City 2 Surf this year.
